UAE's newspaper falsificates Christian Science Monitor's article
SMCCDI (Information Service)
Aug 10, 2006

The UAE's (Persian) "Gulf News" newspaper has falsificated, in it's today issue, part of an article published, originally, in the USA's "Christian Science Monitor" (CSM). The article is titled, in both versions, as "After Lebanon, there's Iran" and has been written by a named Vali Nasr.

The UAE newspaper has proceeded to the shameful falsification of part of the article, by changing the long time established and well recognized name of the PERSIAN Gulf, to the unknown and so-called name of Arabian Gulf. It's to note that the name of the famous water body, which separates Iran from the Arabic peninsula -meaning the PERSIAN Gulf, was correctly used in the August 9th issue of the CSM, to which the UAE newspaper refers to in addition to mentioning the name of the writer.

The falsification can be noticed by comparing the terminology, used in paragraph 7th of the original article published in the CSM: http://www.csmonitor.com/2006/0809/p09s02-coop.html , and the paragraph 17th of the version published in the UAE kind of paper http://www.gulf-news.com/opinion/columns/region/10058811.html .

The UAE kind of paper's demagogy confirms the existence of the backwarded Pan-Arab Nasserian ideology among part of the so-called Arabic intelligentsia and the desperate tries of some opportunist circles to change the historical facts in the Persian Gulf region.

These controversial sources are using the fragile and unpopular position of the Islamic regime in order to push their illegitimate agenda on the back of the oppressed and voiceless Iranian People. Unfortunately, they are also helped by part of the mercantilist and low ethic British and European media, such as, the Financial Times, the Telegraph, the Guardian, Reuters, le Monde and AFP.

The reading of the factual article posted at: http://daneshjoo.org/article/publish/article_2385.shtml  can help to better understand the historical facts in reference to the Persian Gulf and the low ethic level of such controversial sources and their illegitimate agenda.

It's to note that this new and evident falsification, by the UAE kind of paper, has increased, the already general controversy, existing around Vali Nasr's article and has resulted in more anger among Iranians. The original article has been seen as an illegitimate try to legitimize the Islamic republic regime, by suggesting to the US Administration to establish ties with the unpopular Islamic republic regime.
