Tehran - The execution wave in Iran continued with eight convicts hanged in south and south-eastern parts of the country in recent days, Fars news agency reported Wednesday. Seven convicted drug-traffickers belonging to a notorious drug ring in the south-eastern Kerman province were hanged in public in the provincial city of Mahan. Another convicted murderer, who had killed his mother and sister, was hanged in the southern Hormozgan province after his death sentence was confirmed by the Supreme Court. Since the beginning of the year, more than 150 convicts have been executed in Iran, many in public. Murder, rape, and drug-trafficking of quantities in excess of five kilograms is punishable by death in Iran. It's important to note that the Islamic regime uses, often, false charges in order to justify the extermination of dissidents who have resorted to retaliate to its systematic use of violence. |
