Topic: Human Rights in Iran
Guest: Aryo Pirouznia
Description: Aryo Pirouznia is Spokesman for the Student Movement Coordination Committee for Democracy in Iran.

Iran is a nation of people ranging from Arabs to Turks to Persians. Aryo notes that many Iranians today are under 35. Because this demographic has access to high technology, these young people are often in contact with the free world and admit that if they could, they'd choose an American lifestyle. But the government still thinks that by repression, murder, stoning, public hangings and manipulation that they can maintain a climate of terror and fear and so retain power.

The Student Movement Coordination Committee for Democracy in Iran was created in 1996. By creating a mature generation of Iranians striving for democratic values such as individual freedom and free markets, the goal is to bring hope to Iran's future and to show guidance on the social and political scene.
