From SMCCDI: daneshjoo.org Support the Movement Why Support SMCCDI? SMCCDI has been one of the major forces to push for a real change in Iran. It stands for coordinating the Iranian Student Movement along with other layers of society, in order to put an end to the rule of the Fascist-Theocratic Islamic Republic Regime. This agenda, along with its ultimate goals of achieving Secularism, Democracy and inevitably, Peace in Iran and the Middle East Region, are well known to many Iranians and Foreign analysts. Many of the revelations on the evil nature of the clerical administration, their sham reformist movement and their abroad lobbyist groups have materialized because of the direct actions of SMCCDI and its constant efforts. The Movement has to its credentials, the widely accepted and popular "Third Force" concept, the spread of secular and democratic aspirations, periodic guidance of the students and freedom lovers and several calls for successful protest rallies and disobedience actions, such as boycotts of Islamic regime's sham elections or its anti-Semite gatherings, in Iran and abroad. (see Public Statements, Urgent Actions, Audio-Video, Official & Supporters Feedbacks sections) Such endeavors, facilitated by the extensive use of friendly Satellite In addition, the Movement's well known website has an average of 11 Millions hits, per year, and its mailing lists have several thousands subscribers. This website known, by familiars and analysts of the Iranian affairs, as "Daneshjoo" (Student in Persian), offers round the clock news and information about Iran and the struggle of Iranians, to gain Freedom and Democracy, as well as the Movement's guidances and views. Such combination has been, since its launch in July 1999, a major tool in the enlightment of the situation in Iran and is used as a reference by many non-Iranian governmental and non-governmental institutions. Furthermore, the Internet Voice Meetings conducted by SMCCDI, on Internet's "Paltalk Network", was another groundbreaking contribution to Iran's Secular and Freedom Movement, an unprecedented way to break the ice between the two peoples of Iran and America. Up until then, unprecedented support of famous American Scholars and Political Analysts who belong to Major Washington Think Tank Groups, such as "Michael Ledeen" of the "American Enterprise Institute", among Iranians, and their participation in such live virtual Q&A sessions, made a tremendous impact on bringing together the people of Iran and the Americans while weakening the Islamic Regime's propaganda machine's outbursts about the animosity of the US Administration towards the Iranians (Listen to the interview of May 2002 of Michael Ledeen's on Q&A session with SMCCDI in the Audio-Video Section). The creation of such Political-Digital Concept, by SMCCDI, has been well recognized by many researchers and analysts (see "A Vital Role for Electronic Publishing" in the Official Feedback section). It is important to note that SMCCDI views, goals, concept and processes have been adopted by many Iranian groups with the passage of time. Some of these groups, with the help of subjective Iranian reporters or commentators, have gone as far as "claiming", even, parts of Movement's official nomination as theirs in order to use of its credit.
But SMCCDI's Agenda is not limited to the opposition and coordination of Student and Secular Forces. SMCCDI has also a mission of Human Rights as many lives were saved by this organization, especially among the students and other participants who were arrested following the crackdown on July 9, 1999 Uprising. SMCCDI blew the whistle when the regime made the decision to execute some of the arrested students (in Oct. 1999). SMCCDI also Published and Translated such famous letters as those of "Ahmad Batebi" (see Fax & Document Section) and constantly contacted International Organizations, such as Amnesty International and created the three party phone deposition meetings between tortured students and these Int'l Organizations to help reveal to the free World, the barbaric nature of the Islamic Regime (audio recordings of these depositions made by some of the today's well known students, are kept in SMCCDI archives and available upon demand to foreign governments and Int.'l Press).
