More Reasons To End The UN
Thanks to Loyal Citizen Paul, I have been informed that the UNHCR (the august UN body protecting Human Rights everywhere, currently led by his Benevolentness, Moammar "Ass Hat" Khaddafi) has committed yet another outrage of the sort that makes me seriously wonder if it wouldn't be a kindness to coming generations if we were to drop the UN in Brussels, without the benefit of parachutes.
This just in from Iran:
SMCCDI (Public Statement) December 10, 2002
"... The sons of Adam are limbs of each other, Having been created of one essence. When the calamity of time afflicts one limb, The other limbs cannot remain at rest..." (Sa'di Shirazi - Persian 13th century poet)
In line with the mercantilist and business oriented policy of the European Union (EU) members, as well as the extreme generosities of the Islamic Republic's rulers looting the Iranian nation's wealth and resources; The United Nations' Human Rights Commission passed, this year, a resolution removing the status of the Islamic republic regime as Human Rights violators from its black list and did not renew the appointment of the UN's special investigator on Human Rights for Iran. This move cleared the way for an unprecedented degree of systematic Human Rights abuses by the Islamic regime.
Making such a decision and ending the monitoring of Human Rights violations in Iran have allowed the stone headed mullahs hands free to brutally and violently suppress the Iranian people's rights beyond any imagination.
Recent unfortunate and heart breaking Internet images, photos, reports, and other documents showing: Pulling out eyes from live humans, Cutting out body parts, Lashing of youth in public, Public stoning of women, Group Public hangings of innocent young freedom-lovers, and much more... are the best proof of such Human Rights violation increases by the government of Iran.
These hard evidences are not only the proves of major mistakes of some supporters of "Critical Dialogue" with mullahs and their so-called reformists alike, they're also clear proves of how badly these stone aged religious dictators operate in the door steps of the twenty first century.
In fact Iran, the nation who was the first ever to announce, practice, and honor the Human Rights following Cyrus the Great's unprecedented declaration, some 2,500 years ago, was also among the first nations to join and sign the new United Nations' Human Rights declaration over 55 years ago. But with the seizing of political power by the Islamic Republic's rulers, in 1979, mullahs used their own religious beliefs to systematically violate and ignore current Human Right laws while the rest of the Civilized World's nations chose silence and only watched from the sideline allowing the new regime to continue its barbarian practices.
Unfortunately, despite the signing and the commitments of signatories of the Universal declaration on Human Rights, such principles are only applied and enforced in the most powerful nations of the world. For the less fortunate nations, such laws are enforced conditionally depending on their geopolitical and economical situations to insure national interests benefiting those powerful nations that are truly discriminating greatly against poor and developing nations around the world.
These are some of clear reasons of why in a country like Iran, lack of such Human Rights laws enforcement cause Iranian women to continue years of struggle to seek for their simplest of Human Rights objective such as choosing what to wear that is denied by the regime that largely carries on discrimination against Iranian women.
The so called the highest United Nations' officials, supposedly representing global womens' rights organizations of the proud Civilized Nations, made fools out of themselves by wearing Islamic veils/dress against their own will and what they stood for at the time they visited mullahs in Iran.
Another recorded historic case was when the UN Secretary General, Mr. Kofi Anan, visiting the mullahs in Iran praised the existence of democracy in Iran, while at the very same time, just a block away, the regime's Hezbollah security forces were beating and breaking the bones of our moral parents, male and female teachers, who were peacefully demonstrating in order to request their unpaid wages of several months. Their repression resulted in the deaths of two and injuries of several other teachers.
It obviously appears that for the United Nations' officials and those governments, supportive of the Islamic Republic regime, the following are not among the Human Rights violations in Iran. Mass execution of political prisoners, Closing down of dozens of newspapers as a whole, Burning and destruction of valuable books and important documents, Torture and imprisonment of freedom seekers, university students, and intellectuals all alike, Kidnapping and physically removing regime's opponents from the face of earth such as in the Chain Murders tragedy, Ignoring the very basics of Human Rights, especially of women and children, and Thousands of other cases that are clearly violating basic Human Rights carried on by the Hizbollah Mafia in Iran against Iranian population in particular women and children.
A true consideration of such violations can easily help to topple such regime and to help its replacement by a secular and democratic regime.
The great people of Iran who are truly fed up with the Islamic repressors, DO NOT HONOR OR CELEBRATE THE ANNIVERSARY OF THE HUMAN RIGHTS DECLARATION WITH THE WORLD AND THE UNITED NATIONS, and until the time they reach a secular and a democratic system in Iran, they will continue to mark this occasion as a grim reminding day of dishonest double standers and governments who claim to be the guardians of the highest Human Rights values all around the globe today.
On the other hand, the Student Movement Coordination Committee for Democracy in Iran believes that the strong freedom lovers of Iran, especially Iranian students are grateful and appreciative of those international associations and organizations who always stood by their side while they were fighting for their freedom, and tried so very hard, to condemn the Islamic Republic regime for all its Human Rights violations.

The "Student Movement Coordination Committee for Democracy in Iran" (SMCCDI) [Emphases mine]
I'd like to modify my suggestion regarding the UN after having read this post: Would it be too much to ask for the head of Kofi Annan to be delivered by FedEx to the brave students of Iran?

I read that two days ago!! Didn't you wonder why I was so riled up about the Iranian thing?? Didn't you wonder why I demanded to know how I could better support the Iranian Student's Movement from you? THAT is why! They see the world for what it IS! The United Nations peddles lies to keep their jobs, while the EU is, and I couldn't stop laughing and my mom had to ask if there was something wrong with me, "MERCANTILIST." Note it, bold it, yell it from the rooftops. Those greedy Brussels bastards have been called for what they ARE, and only little wit can excuse them.
The Iranians are now my pet project, even more so than seeing the Wormtongue lose his job and sell his ass for cheap liquor (more than he deserves). Misha, all the bloggers out there: we gotta DO SOMETHING. Right now.
SMCCDI: Who Can be Called a Terrorist?
Who Can be Called a Terrorist?
SMCCDI (Public Statement) December 12, 2002
Are Terrorists only those individuals or organizations who maim and kill others just to achieve their own political goals? Or, are those well-funded states that suppress, torture, and even kill their own people for the sole purpose of maintaining their grip on power also terrorists? If so, then how should such regimes be dealt with?
Without any doubt, since the time that most of the so called "civilized world" claimed to unite against terrorism and combat it with their military and police forces, terrorist regimes that are committing the worst atrocities against their own people and around the globe are not only being defended by some Western countries, but are also being supported by them.
The most obvious example of such a terrorist regime is the theocracy of the ruling mullahs Iran.
Without doubt, during the past weeks the heart-breaking images and reports of the Iranian youths murdered by being hung from cranes, the beating and badgering of the exasperated Iranian women, and the mass suppression of the freedom-loving Iranian students have been reflected all around the world; however, it seems as long as oil flows to the West and as long as European opportunists such as Germany can continue doing business in Iran with special concessions, these executions and suppressions are no moral obstacle for such countries. Certainly, we all remember the deceitful policy of "critical and constructive" dialog of the Germans and their European partners; and it seems that 'sacred Human Rights' are just a negotiating tool against the current rulers in Iran and other rulers like them. For as long as the tyrannical regimes in such countries can fill the pockets of their foreign masters by signing disgraceful contracts, despite the suppression and murder of the freedom-lovers and intellectuals that goes on regularly, Human Rights are not being violated in the minds of such pretentious European countries; or, at least, nobody mentions such violations. However, as soon as these western opportunists start witnessing the true rage of the oppressed Iranian people, which threatens the interest of these Western countries, they suddenly rethink a bit of their policies while still supporting the regime: In order to quench the people's rage, they foolishly say that they will also "discuss" the Human Rights issue along with their agenda of increasing trade. These descendants of Luther, Rousseau and Kant must think the Iranian people are gullible and have short memories. How wrong these Europeans are!
Currently, while some members of the European Union are in Iran and are to have a meeting on Thursday with the representatives of the Islamic Republic, the theocratic regime is continuing its wide-scale suppression of the opposition and youth, as well as its executions, stoning of men and women, cutting of limbs (fingers, hands, and feet), gauging of eyeballs, and whippings. Furthermore, with the friendly support of Europe- especially Germany- they are not even trying to conceal these barbaric and disgraceful acts. Some mullahs are even requesting more frequent public executions and more widespread suppression! Today, European self-serving opportunism has gone so far that EU countries such as Germany declare Iran under the tyranny of the mullahs is a safe place, and by sticking with this baseless claim- this utter nonsense- they refuse asylum to many Iranian asylum seekers. Without doubt, as long as European governments are willing to defend any faction of the Islamic Republic regime for their self interest and cover-up for these invaders of political power, their claims of battling terrorism are but empty words.
Certainly, from such realities it can be deduced how worthless the so-called 'Civilized World' considers the life of non-Europeans to be. For, when the barbaric terrorist act of assassinating political opponents at the Mykonos restaurant took place in Berlin- in which the brave conviction of a single prosecutor exposed the key responsibility of the highest fulcrums of power in the Islamic Republic- there should be no room for doubt left with the European governments- especially Germany- that the pillars of power of the religious regime in Iran are based upon terrorizing and assassinating the Iranian people.
However, we remember how the EU members reacted with a political show of pulling out their ambassadors for a few days, and then sent them back in after they got more concessions from their puppet mullahs.
It is more than 23 years that along with the crocodile tears of the Europeans, the theocratic regime in Iran has not only continued tortures and executions on a daily basis- not to mention the 'Chain Murder' assassinations of writers and intellectuals, which were sanctioned by the highest fulcrums of power in Iran- but has also assassinated many of the opposition abroad despite them having received asylum from countries such as Germany, Sweden, and France- due to the tacit approval and lack of any real reaction from those countries. To this end, despite having enough documents and undeniable evidence, the Europeans have not yet stopped supporting the Islamic Republic. On the one hand they send known terrorists of the Islamic republic such as Anis Naghash and Vahid Gorji back to Iran by private plane, and on the other hand, they let the true victims of the Berlin conference, the defenseless translators, rot in the Islamic Republic dungeons. Such European behavior is still witnessed today as the European governments continue to ignore the imprisonment of students, intellectuals, and journalists- placed in even worst conditions than the translators of the Berlin Conference- as they have all been sacrificed by the Germans and the so-called 'Reformists' in the Iranian regime.
The recent visits of the Islamic president to European countries such as France, Italy, Cyprus, Austria, and Spain as well as the recent meeting between the regime's foreign minister and his German counterpart along with the recent comments made by Germany's head of parliament requesting the expansion of cooperation between his country and the Islamic regime are all clear indications of the EU's double standard regarding the application of the principles of Human Rights and her opposition to the replacement of the theocratic regime with a democratic and secular establishment in Iran.
In view of such facts, do the European governments- including Germany, France, Britain, Italy, and Spain- not see themselves as co-conspirators in the crimes of the mullahs' regime? Are these countries- who consider themselves promoters of the 'principles of Human Rights'- not promoting the expansion of the fascist Hezbollah and regional as well as global terrorism by trying to keep their self-serving relation with the clerical regime? It must be observed how valuable a human life and his rights are to such governments in practice: More or less than a barrel of cheap stolen oil?
Finally, should the Islamic Republic only be pursued as a terrorist and criminal, or should its allies also be pursued?

The "Student Movement Coordination Committee for Democracy in Iran (SMCCDI)
Note to leftists: these Iranians are REAL dissenters, people who are actually putting their lives on the line for freedom.
Why isn't Mikey Moore making a documentary about them? Why isn't Sean Penn visiting Iran to march with the students? (We know the answer to that of course - because Moore and Penn are spineless idiotarians, that why.)
Agreed. Deciding on "Bowling for Columbine" as Best Documentary OF ALL TIME, is like deciding on "Austin Power 3" as best movie. People are idiots.
Actually it's WORSE than that, son, inasmuch as "Austin Powers" is, indisputably, a "movie", whereas "Bowling For Columbine" isn't a "documentary". Unless you waive the requirement that documentaries are supposed to actually document something, of course.
HA! Remind me to quote you on that... :)
The SMCCDI communique is dead on. But, Donna, while you're asking Moore and Penn about why they aren't in Iran supporting the courageous students, perhaps you could ask Bush why he isn't. Not a word. And not a word about those Iranian nukes either. America could, after all, just march our soldiers from Baghdad to Tehran when we're done hanging Saddam.
The Right Wing's record of meddling in Iran gives it little moral room for complaining about the Left's alleged silence on the Islamofascist criminals who run the place now.
Because it's incredibly dangerous to fight an actual ARMY, and imperialistic as hell when there's alreday a good protest movement on??
Oh, I think we have an incredible amount of room for complaining. Just when we learn our lessons, you adopt out mistakes as your policy. Good on yer.
And who says that we WON'T turn the tanks and roll on to Tehran, provided we ever get around to finishing off Saddam?
Not that I think it will be necessary. The writing on the wall once our Abrams roll into Baghdad should be clear enough for even an Ayatollah to understand.
Besides, look at it this way. What's to the East of Iran? Afghanistan. What's to the West of Iran? Iraq. Iran is just a hop, skip, and a jump away, but if we throw our weight behind the student movement, we won't have to do a damned thing and Iran will straighten itself out on its own. I pray that it does. It gives the Iranians a cause to fight for and a reason to be proud of themselves for bravely standing up to a regime that seeks to keep them under its thumb. ONE Iranian student has more cojones than the entire bunch of Lefty Moonbats in America and EUrope have collectively.
